When All Else Fails - The Zone Diet

The crucial importance of diet in our daily lives has been well researched over the years. Dr. Barry Sears is a well known researcher who has formulated a diet that he considers to be the perfect basis for healthy living.

Dr Sears’ years of experiments in diet and the patterns in which food is consumed form the basis of the his research into the diseases caused by food. He believes that diet is the cause of many diseases. He has a family history of heart disease, which sparked his interest in finding out the causes. The outcome of his quest is his world famous Zone Diet.

Sears wrote a book on Diet Zone in 1995, which was a New York Times best seller. The people who followed his diet pattern found it very easy to follow with a simple approach and the result was phenomenal especially in reducing the excess weight - the Zone Diet is a fast way to lose belly fat.

His views on food and diet are supported by many medical faculties, for example, the Harward Medical School. Eating results in an increased insulin level. Remember, if the insulin level is kept under control, general health is more easily maintained.. The best way to keep insulin at the same level without much variation is to eat at regular intervals, at least five times a day. The Zone Diet recommends three full meals with two snacks in between.

Starving depletes the insulin level in the blood stream. When the next meal is consumed the quantity of food intake becomes greater in response to a low insulin level. This large meal then results in the insulin level suddenly increasing beyond the normal level. This sudden dip and sharp increase in insulin level are a factor in many diseases.

Dr. Barry Sears’ suggestion is to eat at regular intervals, a small quantity of food, which helps maintain the insulin at the same level. The appropriate ratio of carbohydrates, fat and protein is essential for a balanced meal. Good health is more easily maintained by eating a variety of lower fat delicious meals at regular intervals.

Sears further suggests that exercise should be a part of everyday life. Medical advice should always be sought before starting an exercise program. To expand on his theory, Dr Sears has since written over ten more books.

Most importantly, do not get caught up in fads and scams - learn the shocking weight loss facts which mean that many popular diets are totally ineffective!
