Ace Wedding Planning Ideas: Fun Wedding Music Games

Let’s face it, music is as much a part of a good wedding reception as food and drink. Yes,you can have a wedding reception with no music, but it’s likely it will feel a little quiet and unimaginative. So whether you have a string quartet, a live band, a DJ spinning record or recorded music, it really should be part of the festivities.

And music is not just for dancing. There are lots of games you can organize around the music that will create a component of fun to the wedding festivities.

One suggestion is to play musical chairs. Certainly, this is a fun kid’s game and you don’t want to insult the guests in any way, but you can have quite a lot of fun with this version of musical chairs. You use the men as the chairs – they kneel on the floor, with one knee on the floor and the other bent. The ladies sit lightly on the men’s’ knees as they are playing musical chairs. When either the male or female falls down, that pair are out, until only couple is left.

Some brides like to play musical chairs in order to give away the table centerpiece, which many guests like to take home. So instead of allocating a number and giving the table centrepiece to the lucky person in possession of that number, you have each table play musical chairs until the person left standing at that table is the lucky one that gets to take home the table centrepiece.

Or what about a fun game of “name that tune”? However this is a game that’s more suited to a smaller, more intimate wedding celebration where all the guests know the bride and groom well. Before the big day, the wedding master of ceremonies should get a list of favorite music of both the bride and groom. Make up a CD of those music, and then plan a game of “name that tune”. Guests can be divided into groups and then be played just a small excerpt of each song.

After guests hear that first tiny excerpt, they can then “bid” on how quickly they can name the tune. So one group might say they can name the tune in 15 seconds, while the other group might say 20 seconds. Once one group has backed out, the other group will have to “name that tune”. This is a fun activity that gets all the wedding guests involved and which the bride and groom are particularly thrilled by.

Subject to the style of the celebrations, there are lots of fun games and activities you could play. Without doubt the wedding mc will be able to give you possibilities.
