When it is released in blu-ray, it will most likely use similar 3D glasses. The greater clarity of blu-ray, and the learning curve at Disney, has greatly improved red-cyan anaglyph 3D Glasses, especially in relation to close overlay of the 3D images, such as they have followed in their animation projects. It’s common for most films by Disney to show much less malregistration in comparision to older 3D techniques.

Anaglyph 3D Glasses – What Makes Them Tick?

Anaglyphs are seen as a different picture by each eye when viewed through properly colored 3D glasses. For example, in a red-blue anaglyph 3D glasses, the eye that is covered by the red filter will see red parts of an image as white whereas it will see the blue parts as black. (with the brain providing some adaption for color); the eye covered by the blue filter perceives the opposite effect. The perception of regions of true white or true black is identical for each eye. The brain notices that each eye sees a different image, assumes that this is the result of different distances, and blends them together. This will produce a normal, stereograph image but will not require that the viewer cross his or her eyes.
