What Does Restylane Injections And Botox Do?

The aim and the purpose of both Restylane injection and Botox are the same. Only the method and the medicines used are different which also work differently. Both aim at rejuvenating people. Both aim at removing wrinkles, folds and to fill up the gaps left by the ageing process. And to a great degree both Botox and restylane are successful. The skin is tightened and the crow’s feet besides the eyes and the nasal crevices get filled up, to make the person look younger.

Restylane works by adding volume and smoothness to the skin. Restylane is made in Sweden and since 1996; millions of people have undergone the treatment successfully. It has been performed in more than seventy countries. Restylane and botox are dermal fillers used to reverse the unsightly changes that take place with aging.

Restylane uses hyaluronic acid gel that closely resembles hyaluronic acid that is produced by the body. Therefore the body accepts it without rejecting and makes the process a success. Botox is made from botulinum which is produced by bacteria and is highly poisonous. Very minute quantities of botox are used for rejuvenation. It works by paralyzing the muscles so that they do not multiply the wrinkles and smoothen the existing ones. Since muscles are paralyzed, the face often has an expressionless appearance. The face looks plastic and quite unnatural.

But by using restylane the natural expressions are retained and hence the appearance is normal and natural. Restylane has been in use in Europe for many years now. It is considered safe and natural cosmetic filler. In December 2003, the U S Food and Drug Administration approved the use of Restylane for the treatment of facial wrinkles. Unlike other dermal fillers, including botox, restylane permeates the dermal tissue and naturally binds to water molecules. The modified water molecules assist in achieving volume showing a natural appearance. Restylane is gradually degraded by the body and dissolves without any residue. The treatment is immediately visible unlike botox which may take a couple of days to see the results.

Botox treatment lasts for four to six months after which the patient needs to be treated again. But restylane lasts longer and there are some patients who have achieved success with just one treatment. Restylane injection is injected just below the surface of the skin while botox is injected into the muscles. Restylane works by filling up the troughs while botox acts by paralyzing the muscles.
