Let’s Look At How Much Money People Are Spending On Child-oriented Things, Whether It’s Education Or Fun Things
Look around you and you will see that many advertisements today are centered on children. Increasingly, children are becoming the decision makers in the household, deciding which toothpaste is to be bought, which breakfast cereal is the best and so on. For today’s parents, their child is the center of the world. There are many reasons for that; the main being that today’s couples are mostly working-couple and so, have enough money to pamper their little tykes. Furthermore, large families are also becoming rare, especially in the urban regions, so parents are providing more for their progenies. It is not that they are spending only on education; every little detail of the child’s life is carefully planned out by the parents nowadays. Again, it is not just the parents who are spending money on child-oriented things; Baby boomers who have now retired with good income too are coming up as Santa Claus-like grandparents to their grandchildren.
It is estimated that they spend an average of $2,000 per month on them and the amount, quite naturally, goes up during the holidays. Hence, child toy-shop franchises love targeting this group. It’s no wonder that niche franchises like Educational Outfitters are finding favor with them. Then there are the supplementary education franchises such as College Nannies and Tutors, Computer Tots, The Tutoring Club, etc. Recent survey has showed how badly American children were lagging behind in science and technology in school level, compared to other industrialized nations. That forced the government to bring the “No Child Left Behind” Act in 2002, which opened up the market for such franchises even more. It allowed government funding to be used by deserving candidates to get supplementary educational needs.
Today’s parent make sure that “All work and no play make Jack a dull boy” does not happen to their children. That is why franchises offering drawing and after-school activities are seeing a boost in their market. Since today’s generation remains glued to TV and computer, surveys show that one out of five children are overweight and some morbidly obese. Such unhealthy lifestyle is not a good thing and parents seek out centers that offer the scope of performing vigorous physical activities. Such franchises not only help the children to stay fit, but they are also place for parent-child bonding, since most of them insist on parents joining in. JW Tumblers, Bounce U, The Fun Bus are a few such franchising concepts. Birthday parties are big issue for any child, so there are also franchises like Party Time Palace that help parents organize a great party without the hassles associated with it. In conclusion, it can be truly said that child-related franchises were “hot in the start, prosperous now and promising in the future”!
