In the year of 1905 the brother-in-law of Hans Wilsdorf, named Alfred Davis and of course Hans Wilsdorf himself founded “Wilsdorf and Davis” in London England. At the time the main business of “Wilsdorf and Davis” was the importing of Hermann Aegler’s Swiss movements to England and then placing them into quality cases made by Dennison (as well as others). These wristwatches were then sold to jewellers. The jewellers would put their names on the dial of the watches. The earliest watches produced by “Wilsdorf and Davis” were marked with a “W&D” on the inside of the casing.
In the year of 1908 on 11-15-1915 The trademark “Rolex” was registered by Wilsdorf who also opened an office in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The word “Rolex” was said to be made up and this word was used because it can be easily pronounced in any language. Antoher version on where the name came from is that name came from the French phrase horlogerie exquise, meaning “exquisite clockwork”. Some people also say that “rolex” was meant to evoke the sound of a watch being wound up. But most people agree to the story that it was simple made up.
In the year of 1919 Wilsdorf completely moved the Rolex company to Geneva, Switzerland. The reason for doing this was because of the United Kingdoms taxes and export duties on the silver and gold and these taxes were making the costs too high.
In the year of 1944, Wilsdorf established the Hans Wildorf Foundation after the death of his wife. He left all of his Rolex shares to this foundation. He also made sure that some of the company’s income would go to charity. Till today the company is still owned by a private trust and its shares are not traded on the open stock exchange. Rolex is also the most widely available brand in Replica Watches.

You probably don’t want to buy a phone recorder that uses cassettes if this is your first recorder and you’re not tied to legacy equipment in your office. If you are tied to what you’ve used before, of course you’ll need to buy something compatible with your current system.
Assuming you’re free to buy whatever you want, you will probably do better with a digital telephone recorder, for several reasons.
First, cassette recorders have very limited storage capacity. The largest capacity tapes will only hold sixty minutes per side, which used to be a lot, but is miniscule compared to digital recording devices that can hold dozens or even hundreds of hours of conversations.
One of the problems with the limited storage on tapes is that if you need to archive them, you have to store the physical tapes. When you record with a digital telephone recorder, all you have to store is small audio files. You can store them on your computer or CD, and catalog them according to whatever system you choose.
Digital files are extremely durable. You can copy them repeatedly with no quality loss, and they don’t degrade with use. With a cassette, you’ll need to keep the master to make copies, and each time it’s played it will lose a small amount of quality.
Digital recorders are also, in general, easier to use. You don’t have to keep tapes around, they require less fussing with, no turning over of tapes or rewinding, and they’re generally less hassle than cassette recorders.
So, to answer the original question, unless you have a very good reason for choosing a cassette tape phone recorder over digital, the answer is, no, you probably shouldn’t go with a cassette device. Digital recording devices offer so many advantages that it is hard to justify buying a cassette recorder these days.

The headlines read: “Sony Says Blu Ray will Conquer Half the Market By 2008.” Until now, you may have never have heard of the blu ray disc player before. If you’re the kind of person who watches movies every week or every couple weeks and loves that home theater, high-definition, surround-sound experience, then a Blu Ray disc player is in your near future.
The good news is that you didn’t get suckered into buying a HD DVD player that is now obsolete. Here you will learn all of the basics about this new technology so that you can make up your mind as to whether it’s a trend or a necessity for your household.
blu ray
Blu Ray (BR) is the new format developed for optimal recording, rewriting, playing and storing of high-definition video. The world first learned about the new technology with the release of Sony’s PlayStation3 in November 2006. To make more advanced games, Sony needed a way to “fit in” more data.
While the DVDs in your current collection hold 9 GB of information, the Blu Ray discs are able to hold 25-50 GB, making it five times more efficient! Manufacturers like Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp and JVC (to name a few) are using a different type of laser (blue versus the traditional red) to pack more data with better precision.
blu ray player
Several days after the November 2006 release of PS3, Sony offered its first stand alone Blu Ray disc player for $300. Thanks to the new technology, the PlayStation was surpassing its rival, the Xbox360, by selling 13 million units. The Blu Ray 1.0 was your bare bones player, but it lacked ethernet ports and all of the functionality that the superior PS3 machines had.
Since November, all the blu ray player featuring 1.1-2.0 technology and are BD-Live enabled, meaning that you can link up to the internet to download movie trailers onto the rewritable portion of your Blu Ray disc and play interactive games, as well as receive firmware updates and exclusive downloads of additional bonus material.
bluray player
So just how popular is the Blu Ray? It’s so popular that market analysts are speculating that Sony may not have the capacity to tackle the demand for the new bluray player ! The demand is said to be around 43 million units worldwide, but factories can only handle production for 38 million, and that’s after an upgrade to their facilities.
Therefore, you can expect prices to remain high until the supply side catches up with the demand. Prices on the initial players range from $400 to $1,000 but the subsequent versions are expected to be offered for around $300.

If you wish to own a cell phone but your budget won’t permit you to do so, you can always opt to buy a used cell phone. The point to think about here is: where can you get one? It’s quite satisfying to know that you can get high quality pre owned cell phones both from local second hand stores or over the internet.
The primary appeal of buying second hand or previously owned phones is that it’s economical. Expect used cell phones to be cheaper by almost 50 percent compared to a new one.
Take note that small decisions can spell a whole world of difference in our daily lives. The simple act of buying something as plain as used cell phones can make for a big impact on nature.
As you may already know, millions of cellular phones end up in landfills every year. Choosing to buy a pre-owned unit implies making a small yet important contribution in saving the earth’s landfills from being filled with too much garbage.
Another issue why you should simply choose a used cell phone rather than new one is that you will save yourself the worry of getting mugged because a pre owned phone is not a hot item in the eyes of thieves.
There are a lot of grounds why you should not turn down a second-hand phone. Despite the reality that the world of technology is changing every second, this is not an excuse to give used cell phones a condescending stare.
Any used 3G iPhone you find on the market can still deliver service efficiently. The important thing is that the units are still able to provide you the functions you need in a mobile phone without costing an arm and a leg.
Sellers of used cell phones are normally found in online shops like ebay. As a warning it is best to inspect the item thoroughly. Ask the seller if she can send pictures or video of the phone so you can check up on the unit well.

The following extract is from a series of consumer electronic articles, tips, videos and information about laser rangefinders …
So you need to measure a distance between two objects? Do you employ a measuring tape, walk the distance or simply eye ball the distance to figure out how far away each are from another? If you are smart, then you will use a laser rangefinder to get that number. They are accurate and far more convenient than trying to use other measuring devices, such as measuring tapes and wheels. They come in both binocular and monocular form and are pretty easy to operate.
Here is how a laser rangefinder functions. It all begins with a need to measure a interval between two objects. A short laser pulse is fired at the distant object. The pulse hits the object and bounces back to the range finder. The amount of time it takes to travel back is calculated by an integrated circuit and then translated into a measurement. Before 1987, this handy tool was used primarily by the military and by specialized personnel, but now that price is no longer a consideration, more people are purchasing these handy items.
With all this technological implementation on optical components, there is a downfall. The laser beam must be able to reflect back in order to measure the range. This also limits the distance to around 1500 yards, in consumer versions, as larger distances prevent accurate reflection. Also, an object located behind trees or brush can become obscured, with early returns giving inaccurate readings. The technology is still fairly expensive, as a Nikon Monarch monocular system will set you back around $400. Lower-priced systems with a narrower range can be bought for no more than $100. Specialized optical systems with a higher range, and designed for more complex environments, can cost you in excess of $17,000!
There are many applications for which you can use a laser rangefinder. Professional and amateur golfers and hunters still make up a large share of the market but new applications are being found for the laser binocular rangefinders and monoculars. These items are not quite as pricey as they once were, so people are now discovering everyday uses around their homes for a laser range finder. It certainly makes hanging those pictures easier!

The Canon Powershot SD890 IS Digital Camera is a fairly new camera released in March. For the casual photographer who takes a picture once in awhile, it’s a tad expensive.
We were excited by the many features in this canon ultra compact so we decided to talk to some digital photography experts and let a few of them take this Canon Powershot SD890 IS Digital Camera out into the field and run some tests.
This 10megapixel digital camera has great photograph resolution. And keep in mind that if you like to print out copies of your pictures in large size, 10 megapixels is the best feature to have. The cameras with lesser megapixels have a tendency to show grainy photos when printed in large size.
The Canon Powershot SD890 IS Digital Camera is a very durable camera. It’s mostly made of metal and is considered to be one of the biggest and weightiest cameras in the “compact” camera category, especially for the zoom quality that you get. We’re talking about a 5x zoom which allows you to really capture high resolutions on subjects that are reasonably far away.
There is a generous variety of shooting styles/modes in the SD890 IS. Our experts especially liked the focus check display mode. This specific feature identifies faces in the playback mode and then zooms in on them. This allows you to make sure that the faces are in focus. Nice.
As a result of the lack of manual control, some users of this Canon model digital cam might get a bit frustrated if they don’t like shooting in a pre-set style. Yes, there are lots of pre-set options on the SD890 IS, but if you need total control over image exposure, you may want to contemplate purchasing another of the many Canon Digital Cameras.
The SD890 IS also takes one of the specially manufactured canon batteries. These batteries are rechargeable but they are also a little on the expensive side and charging can take two hours. If you are figuring on doing some time consuming shooting, you may end up dropping quite a bit of money on backup batteries to keep yourself covered while you are in the field.
After testing the Canon Powershot SD890 IS Digital Camera, here is what one of our digital camera experts had to say: “This is a great camera in a small package, which makes it great for people who don’t want to have to lug around a huge camera just to get a quality shot. The Canon Powershot SD890 IS digital camera is the best of both worlds: professional quality photographs from a point-and-shoot pocket sized camera.”

With the recent introduction of plug-n-play solar chargers into the market, solar power is within the reach of just about anyone. You no longer have to be a tech savvy “do-it-yourself-er” in order to harness solar power.
You can learn about the specific types of Plug ‘n Play solar chargers available, and where to find them, at Plug n Play Solar Chargers
But what exactly are plug-n-play solar chargers? They are usually simple sets of solar panels combined with battery packs, which is sold as a unit. It is capable of collecting solar energy and storing it in a battery. That’s all there is to it.
The feature that makes this type of set-up so useful is that you can use it to power or recharge your electrical devices, laptops, power tools, radios or even TVs, from the battery pack. The solar power and battery pack are sold together, so you don’t have to worry about compatibility, cables, watts or voltages, or any of that. And you don’t have to wonder whether the setup will work or not.
By using the battery pack, instead of trying to power your equipment directly from a solar panel, you ensure that you have a steady flow of power or electricity flowing into your equipment. Even on a sunny day there can always be some clouds. When they move in front of the sun it there would be a decrease of solar energy being picked up by the panels, which would momentarily reduce the amount of electricity being produced by your solar charger. But if your equipment is connected to a battery pack (which is in turn connected to a solar panel) the battery would take up the momentary slack in solar energy.
There are other advantages to using a plug-n-play solar charger kit, besides its steady flow of electricity. Because of the fact that the solar panels charge the battery pack, you will be able to make use of solar energy at any time, night or day, regardless of weather conditions or available sunlight. You simply make sure the solar charger is charging during daylight hours. You then use the battery to charge your laptop, cell-phone, iPod (or whatever else you need to charge) during the night, while you are sleeping.
Many people think solar panels and solar chargers only work in hot climates. Not true. Solar panels collect solar energy far more efficiently when they are cold. Thus, they actually operate more efficiently in colder temperatures. This fact makes them perfectly suitable for just about any climate. All you need is daylight.
There are some factors you have to take into account with such a solar charger setup:
1. Whether or not the battery pack is capable of powering the device you want to power
2. How long it takes for the solar panel to fully charge your battery pack.
Once you know that, you can decide whether you have found the right solar charger setup for you or not.
There are now a wide variety of ready-to-go, plug-n-play solar charger systems and do-it-yourself packages available, to suit anyone’s needs. They are used for small portable power units, cell phones, camera batteries, iPods, and laptops, etc. They are also used for larger systems which give remote or emergency power for AC and DC appliances such as radios, small TVs, cabin lighting and much, much more.
Plug-n-play devices and do-it-yourself kits are a great way to get started using solar energy at an affordable price. They bypass the need for advanced knowledge in electronics, and keep things simple.
